Yorgos Avgeropoulos is a prominent Greek documentary filmmaker. His work is internationally acclaimed with more than 40 awards in film festivals around the world.
A former war correspondent and frontline reporter, Avgeropoulos turned into documentary filmmaking in 2000. Since then he has created numerous socio-political documentaries in more than 50 countries focusing on inequality, injustice, human rights, environment, immigration and gender issues.
His latest film AGORA – From Democracy to the Market (2015) was broadcasted by many TV networks in Europe, Canada, the Middle East, Asia and Australia and was honored with many awards including with the Rockie Award in Banff World Media Festival, the Gold Hugo in Chicago International Film Festival TV Awards, the Best Documentary in Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, and the Otto Brenner Special Award for Critical Journalism of the Otto Brenner Foundation.
